Slinkachu
The street artist known only as Slinkachu (born in 1979) has been abandoning little people on the streets of London since 2006. His first project, ‘Little People in the City’, saw miniature men, women and children living their lives on the streets of London and was in the 2008 book entitled 'Little People In The City'. He has a unique way of photography and uses tiny 1 cm figures as props in his photographs. Once he has finished photographing his characters, he leaves them on the streets. One of his pieces "A man standing by a cash machine" lasted around 2 months.
Slinkachu has created installations in Amsterdam, Barcelona, Manchester and Stavanger in Norway. He'll be creating more work in Rotterdam later this summer and in Italy in Septemberlinkachus captures photographs of tiny figures with a interesting background: from far away and up-close .He uses everyday objects and figurines to create a setting in which he is going to photograph. Slinkachu focuses on depth of field by using miniature figures against "normal" sized objects to create a striking image. Each photo gives out a different effect, he produces touching pictures. Slinkachu has gone global and is very successful, as well as bringing a book of his own out he even got to present his amazing work live in shows in places like London and new York.

My opinion on Slinkachu's work
My opinion on Slinkachu's work is very strong and powerful the reasons for this is because, personally I really enjoy looking and admiring Slinkachu's photos, I think he is very creative and got an amazing imagination, I mean who would think of doing ‘The Little People Project’ it's just incredible? Also i think Skinkachu try's to tell everyone a little story about what the little people are doing, eg. the little people being on holiday, or posting the mail, even being flattened by a human foot, it makes you what to know more about the photos. In my photography work I have thought about Slinkachu's idea of little people and try an idea of my own, still little people but different. My main question was how I will have the amazing imagination (like Slinkachu) to think of an idea of what my little people would be doing and what props to use for my photos. Slinkachu a good focus when using depth of field, causing the photos to have effects on peoples views; such as making them look more professional giving a Slinkachu a high rate for his pictures.
One of my favorite pictures of Slinkachu's work is the second one in the sideshow. The one where the lady is lay on the beach with the Ipod and head phones. This photo make me laugh at how good it is due the creativity. I also like how Slinkachu just got the Lady and headphone in focus, this creatives an effect making the photo more eye catching. I think Slinkachu try to tell a story with his pictures, when you see the different picture some stand out more to you. Looking at the picture of the lady sunbathing makes you wondering, why is she on her own? Where is she? Is she on holiday? I wondering what kind of music is she listening to. Even know she isn't a real person your mind is wondering because Slinkachus photos have an effect on people.
My Slinkachu Photos
In my photography work I worked in Slinkachu style ‘The Little People Project’ I used my own imagination on what my little people where doing. I found it fun and I really enjoyed doing it. I think my work went well on getting the little people in focus and the background blurred producing a small depth of field. My little people are on the power points this draws your eyes and makes you focus on where the little people are kissing. I think in the first photo the shadow works well in the picture. Personally what needs to be improved is the second picture, I should of got only one thing in focus and not the whole picture, making it look more professional again using a small depth of field. Also i think i should of used a quite bigger depth of field on my first and third photos so that more of the picture is in focus.
My strongest pictures #Take 1
I used a large depth of field on this picture making most of the photo in focus. I also used my imagination on getting to little people in place; I used a bright flower to bring my photo more eye-catching to people. The things I would change if I did this picture again is the focus, I would get less in focus.
Personally I really like this picture, because I like how the tiny people are the only things in focus. I used the kissing couple and added the flowers to make it a romantic effect. My photo shows that there's a young couple in love sneaking off to a quiet place behind the flowers. The shadows in the picture show that they are in a sunny place and have got an interesting effect on the photo.
This photo has a small depth a field causing only the kissing couple to be in focus and a bit of the flowers. If I was to do this photo again I would change depth of field. Reasons being I would just like the kissing couple in focus and not the flowers. Also I would try the picture from a different angle.
#Take 2
My weakest photo
If i could change this picture i would make sure someone is in the background, so the picture doesn't look unprofessional. Also i would get my depth of field correct and focus more on the tiny person instead of getting all the picture blurry.
Photographers who have been inspired by Slinkachu
Just like Slinkachu, Akiko Ida and Pierre Javelle started there Minimiam Project in 2006. All the tiny people have been placed carefully on all different types of food. But unlike Slinkachu, Akiko and Javelle didn't put their art all around the country so they get destroyed.
Personally my favourite photo of the married couple’s work of art is the one with the doughnut with the tiny people on the bikes. I adore this picture because I think it’s full of imagination and skills, I can see they have used Depth of field and blurred to front of the picture for focus also.
For my GCSE work I would like to try and recreate something similar to Akiko Ida and Pierre Javelle I would do this by using a small depth of field with small figures to get them in focus and a large background, making my picture look colourful and professional. Also bring my own props in such as cakes, and different types of food with my own ideas of what the tiny figures are going to do.
Akiko Ida and Pierre Javelle are a husband and wife team who met studying photography at the Paris "Arts Decoratifs" art school. They got their Minimiam Project idea off Slinkachu and Little People Project, it shows the world as we know it from a new perspective.
Since childhood, Akiko has always been attracted to the world of gastronomy. As a child, she elaborated and baked different sorts of bread which she photographed and stored in a notebook. At the same time, she invented tiny characters that filled entire pages of her journal. Akiko became a renowned Food Photographer teaming up with her identical, Pierre.
Her husband Pierre, is from Burgundy, grew up on a comics diet. Attracted by drawing, illustrations and photography, art school was his refuge.
My opinion
My opinion on Akiko Ida and Pierre Javelle photos is that they have made their ideas quite original. They have been inspired by Shinkachu but have made their photos different in a way. Akiko and Pierre's theme is food, which is a good idea; they have increased the imagination of Slinkachu. Personally I like the couples photos more than Slinkachu.

Another favourite of mine has to be the one where the little people are pumping up the dried fruit making them into grapes. I think it is quite funny and unique.
Using an apple and a orange i came up with a lot of different ideas for creating images just like Akiko Ida and Pierre Javelle
Take #1 and #2
Personally this is my favorite photo i taken. I like this picture because of the way i cut the apple causing it to have a funky pattern going along it. I like the way all of the picture is in focus so you can see everything. Also i think the Tiny people is perfect for a picture like this due to the fact he is sat down so he can slide down the slide. Its like the tiny people have a mind of their own.
This is my weakest picture due to the focus. I don't think to focus is very good on this photo causing it become blurry and weak. Also i do not like the angle of this picture because the viewer can't really see what is going on.
